After years of saying it wouldn't be introducing a "dislike" button, it looks like Facebook has made a U-turn and is currently working on the new option.

"I think people have asked about the dislike button for many years. Today is a special day because today is the day I can say we’re working on it and shipping it," said Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg during a Q&A session today.

In the past, it looks like Facebook decided to steer clear of the option because it wanted to avoid becoming a platform for negativity, but now the company recognises that a lot of users often want to express something other than "liking". "What they really want is the ability to express empathy. Not every moment is a good moment," said Zuckerberg.

Keep checking your feed because it sounds like the "dislike" button will be introduced pretty soon.
