Dev Hynes aka Blood Orange has teamed up with Connan Mockasin for a collaborative EP titled Myths 001. The EP was written and recorded as a part of the Marfa Myths festival in March, a cultural program in Texas curated by record label Mexican Summer. The pair spent the week before the festival writing and recording tracks with Gregory Smelley at the Marfa Recording Studio. The session produced three songs, the Joe Jackson sounding "La Fat Fur", the funky "Feelin' Lovely" and the tender ballad "Big Distant Crush". They gave a special impromptu performance during the festival celebrating the collaboration. Take a listen to the EP via Spotify below.
This is the first in a series of records from Mexican Summer that will serve as a platform for their artists to collaborate with others whose work lives outside of their catalogue.
Dev Hynes & Connan Mockasin’s Myths 001 is available at independent stores as a limited edition 12" vinyl (1500 copies) now. Grab it from Norman Records here.
