Polaroid Brings 3D Printing To The Masses

Polaroid has just made the world of 3D printing a whole lot more accessible to the average person, launching the Modelsmart 250S 3D printer, which aims to make the technology a "part of everyone's everyday life."

"It's the first time a household name has produced a 3D printer for the mass market," said Polaroid in a statement. "Throughout our history, the Polaroid brand has been associated with creating innovative products, but we're also committed to making innovative technologies accessible to everyone […] Just as the first Polaroid Land camera enabled people to watch a picture instantly develop, our relationship with EBP will allow us to bring the magic of creating an object right before your eyes to consumers across Europe."

The printer includes a WiFi enabled camera, allowing people to monitor projects remotely, and has a self-calibrating extruder which has a print speed of between 20 and 100 millimetres per second. The filament cartridges are available in nine colours - pink, orange, yellow, lime, green, and blue - which matches the trademark Polaroid stripes found on the outside of the printer.

An official release date and price is yet to be unveiled, but it will be available on the European market first.
