Airbnb Introduces New "Trips" Feature

  • Posted 17 months Ago

We’ve all done it - travelled to a city we’ve heard our friends rave about only to visit the same old, well-trodden tourist hotspots. Well, Airbnb is here to save us, launching two impressive new features which help holiday-goers make the most of their stays.

The first of the features, Experiences, puts travellers in touch with a wide variety of locals who are hosting unique and interesting experiences across the city. Whether you want to explore the local cuisine, street art, or sumo wrestling, Experiences will help you dive into the culture and discover it with an insider’s perspective. Travelling to LA? Why not ditch the Hollywood Boulevard in favour of camping under the stars, enjoying a fireside meal, and learning to surf with “born adventurer” Quinn, who has an extensive knowledge of the city’s “off the beaten path” spots.

The second feature, Places, works in tandem with Trips but places a focus on sightseeing, dining, and nightlife, with recommendations coming from well-known and interesting locals. All the places listed can be easily added to your itinerary within the app, allowing you to plan your time and make the most out of your trip.

"We want every trip you take to feel magical. So you no longer have to follow the maps, wait in the lines, and take photos of all the same sights,” says Airbnb. “Now, you can access unique experiences, incredible homes, and local favourites — all from one app."

The new features are already available in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Detroit, Havana, London, Paris, Florence, Nairobi, Cape Town, Tokyo and Seoul, and there are plans to expand to over 50 cities in 2017.
