According to WWD, influential fashion designers Marc Jacobs and Tom Ford have both said they won't be dressing Melania Trump. "I have no interest whatsoever in dressing Melania Trump," said Jacobs when speaking to WWD. "Personally, I’d rather put my energy into helping out those who will be hurt by [Donald] Trump and his supporters."
They join the long list of designers who are boycotting any opportunity to clothe the new First Lady, for both political and aesthetic reasons.
"I was asked to dress [Melania Trump] quite a few years ago and I declined," said Ford when speaking to The View. "She’s not necessarily my image."
He added that his clothes are actually too expensive for the First Lady and that a woman in such a position shouldn't wear such pricey clothes if she wants to relate to everybody.
Regardless of whether or not fashion designer boycott Melania Trump, she's obviously still free to purchase their designs off the shelf. During the campaign trail, she wore designs by Gucci, Roksanda and Ralph Lauren.
