Retailer Amazon has just introduced a new concept called Amazon Go, which essentially eliminates the need to any queues or checkouts in your usual grocery store.
It works through deep learning algorithms and sensor fusion, creating what Amazon calls "Just Walk Out Technology". All you need to do is scan a QR code on your smartphone app when you enter the store and that's it. Just browse, pick up and put down items, and then walk out. The store will automatically track what you've purchased and charge your Amazon account.
If Amazon can pull off what it's showcasing here that's a truly impressive feat. How does the store know if you've put back an item, especially if you've put it back in the wrong place? We'll soon find out how well it works in real life though, as Amazon plans on opening its first Amazon Go store in Seattle next year. Watch the demo above.
