After years of requests, it appears Facebook has finally caved and is testing a "Dislike" button, however, it's not where you might expect. Instead of rolling it out on the main site, the social network is instead testing it on the Messenger app.

Apparently some users, including Hoan Do, who sent the tip to TechCrunch, are already able to use the new Dislike option by hovering over a message to display various available "Reactions" including heart-eyes, lol, wow, sad, or the angry emoji. Everyone in the message thread can then see that reaction in a "Reaction counter" that shows everyone's responses.

"We’re always testing ways to make Messenger more fun and engaging," said Facebook when speaking to TechCrunch. "This is a small test where we enable people to share an emoji that best represents their feelings on a message."

Since it was rolled out last February, Facebook's "Reactions" has proven to be a big hit. The "Love" is currently the second most used after "Like", having been sent 300 billion times to date.

It's currently unclear if the "Dislike" button will be rolled out site-wide, but stay tuned for details.
