Chris Cornell, the legendary frontman for both Soundgarden and Audioslave, has died at the age of 52. He passed away on Wednesday night (17 May) in Detroit.

The Associated Press received a statement from Cornell’s representative Brian Bumbery in which he called the death "sudden and unexpected". It continued to say Cornell’s family will be working closely with the medical examiner to determine the cause and asked for privacy.

Soundgarden were an integral part of the rising Seattle grunge scene in the 90s along with Nirvana and Pearl Jam, with the group earning huge success thanks to tracks like "Black Hole Sun" and "Spoonman". In the early 00s Cornell joined members of Rage Against The Machine to form Audiolsalve, introducing themselves to the world with the explosive track "Cochise".
