During its annual Worldwide Developers Conference today, Apple unveiled something a lot of fans have been wishing for - an all-new iMac Pro.

Fitted with up to 18-core Xeon processors, up to 128GB of memory, and up to 22 Teraflops of graphics computation, this new machine is being pitched as Apple's most powerful Mac ever. It also comes with a beautifully crisp 27-inch Retina 5K display, perfect working on advanced graphics editing, virtual reality content creation and real-time 3D rendering. The new thermal design will also allow for up to 80 percent more cooling capacity while up to 4 terabytes of SSD storage keeps the machine running smoothly and quietly.

"This will be our fastest and most powerful Mac ever, which brings workstation-class computing to iMac for the first time," said John Ternus, Apple’s vice president of Hardware Engineering. "We reengineered the whole system and designed an entirely new thermal architecture to pack extraordinary performance into the elegant, quiet iMac enclosure our customers love — iMac Pro is a huge step forward and there’s never been anything like it."

The new iMac Pro stars at $4,999 USD (approx. 3,870 - although the UK price will be more than that) and will begin shipping in December.
