According to The Wrap, the critically-acclaimed directorial debut from Jordan Peele, Get Out, has just become the most profitable film of 2017 so far, based on return on investment.

The film was incredibly well received by both critics and audiences and currently has an impressive 99% score on Rotten Tomatoes. This word-of-mouth hype meant it did very well at the box office, grossing $252.4 million.

Of course, plenty of films have raked in far more than this in ticket sales (Beauty and the Beast is currently leading the pack with $1.2 billion worldwide), none did so with such a small production budget. While Beauty and the Beast had a budget of $106 million, Get Out was made with just $4.5 million, giving it a 630% return.

Taking second place is M. Night Shyamalan's Split (which was also made by Blumhouse Productions), which cost just $9 million to make and returned $276.9 million globally, giving the company a 610% return.

Let's see if they can see the year out and stay ahead of the pack for the next five months!
