Apple launches official Instagram account to showcase iPhone photography

  • Posted 8 months Ago

Apple doesn't really go in for social media. It has official Facebook and Twitter accounts, but it never actively posts or promotes itself via the platforms.

It does, however, have multiple Instagram accounts, currently covering Apple Music, iTunes, Beats 1, iBooks, Carpool Karaoke, and even Planet of the Apps. Now, it's launched an @apple account to showcase the work of iPhone photographers. So far, each album features a number of photos, a video slideshow each photographer's work, and an an accompanying clip of the artist talking about their subject matter. Apple is also encouraging others to get involved by sharing their work with the hashtag #ShotoniPhone (so far 906,102 posts include this tag).

Now that it boasts and impressive 700 million monthly active users, Instagram is arguably the biggest photography platform around, so it certainly makes sense for Apple to be showcasing its camera quality here.
