Diplo says Rihanna keeps turning down collaborations

Diplo has opened up in an interview with GQ, revealing that he's tried to get Rihanna to collaborate with him multiple times but keeps getting turned down. Apparently he initially offered the her Major Lazer's multi-platinum, 2015 single "Lean On", but she wasn't into it.

"I just want her on a Major Lazer song. She’s like the one artist that we can’t ever get," he said. "I played her ‘Lean On’. She was like, 'I don’t do house music'. I face-palmed so hard on that one."

In the end the track was offered to Mě (after Nicki Minaj declined the offer as well), which he now called a "blessing in disguise". He goes on to talk about how he tried, and failed, to to convince her to collaborate during a star-studded recording session:

"Another time I had a session with her, and Future was also invited. The Weeknd was there. Metro Boomin was there before anybody knew who he was. I was so contact high," he continues when speaking to GQ. "Future played her, like, 700 songs. It was four in the morning. Finally, I was like, 'Yo, G, I’m leaving unless you let me play her a song'. So I played her a song. And she was like, 'This sounds like a reggae song at an airport'. [laughs] I was like, I’m gonna go kill myself."

It doesn't seem like he's lost heart after being denied so many times, however. "I think before we’re all done, she’ll be on a song of ours,” he said. "Hopefully. But if not, I don’t really care."
