Saudi artist arrested for dabbing on stage during concert

The dance move has been banned in the country as the authorities consider it to refer to smoking weed.

A popular singer in Saudi Arabia has been arrested for dabbing on stage while performing at a music festival in the south-west of the country, reports the BBC.

Abdallah Al Shahani, a TV host, actor, and Saudi national, performed the famous dance move during a concert at the weekend, and has since been arrested following footage of the concert being shared thousands of times on social media.

The dance move was recently banned in Saudi Arabia by the Interior Ministry's National Commission for Combating Drugs, as they believe it to be associated with marijuana use.

They shared the below poster which the BBC points out warns of the "dangers" that dabbing inflicts "on the youth and society".

Abdallah Al Shahani apologised for the incident on Tuesday via Twitter, saying the dab happened "unintentionally and spontaneously".
