Last night’s episode of Game of Thrones was as epic as it gets. The majority of the action took place in the icy settings beyond the wall, with a huge battle between Jon Snow, Tormund Giantsbane, Ser Jorah Mormont, The Hound and a few others, facing off against the Night King’s army of the dead.

HBO has now shared a behind-the-scenes look at how some of the incredible scenes were captured, revealing that the battle was shot in a combination of real-life locations in Iceland and Belfast, with lots of the CGI heavy moments being shot in a studio.

In the video, Rory McCann, who plays The Hound, speaks about the difficulties filming the scene featuring an enormous zombie bear: "I’ve never really worked with this ping pong ball thing, and ‘pretend that’s a bear’. I’ve had people going, ‘when I come towards you, I’m a bear.’ No you’re not. Your name’s Toby!"

There are obviously loads of spoilers, so don’t watch it if you haven’t already caught up with last night’s episode.
