The second season of Stranger Things hasn’t even started yet, but co-creators Ross and Matt Duffer have confirmed that the hit Netflix series will return for a third.

In an interview with Vulture, Ross Duffer said the show will likely be "a four-season thing and then out" - although a fourth series is yet to be given the green light. Speaking about adapting the story outside of the the small fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana for the confirmed third season, Matt Duffer says: "We just have to keep adjusting the story…though I don’t know if we can justify something bad happening to them once a year".

Details about the forthcoming season two of Stranger Things are thin on the ground, but the Duffer brothers did state that it will feel more like a sequel to a movie than a television show.

Stranger Things season two airs on Netflix on 27 October.
