No-one has been cast as of yet, so who knows who’ll end up stepping up for the daunting role of the Joker. We do know that it won’t be Jared Leto however. The actor recently played the Joker in Suicide Squad, but Deadline’s Mike Fleming Jr says the new Joker film "will launch the character with a different actor, possibly younger".

Fleming Jr also goes on to describe the film as "a gritty and grounded hard-boiled crime film", saying it will be set in early-80s Gotham City and it will be influenced by Scorsese’s films Taxi Driver and Raging Bull.

The film is also reportedly the first under a new banner of Warner Bros. that will expand on DC characters with new storylines and different actors.
