This week, BMW took the covers off its brand new racer - the BMW M8 GTE. The car will race in the GTE Pro division of next year's World Endurance Championship and will debut at the Daytona 24 Hours in January.

"With the BMW M8 GTE, we are bringing cutting-edge technology to the top international class of GT racing, whilst at the same time tying in with our tradition at Le Mans," said BMW motorsport director Jens Marquardt. "The development of the BMW M8 GTE is on schedule, and we can hardly wait to see the car challenging for victories in 2018."

The car, which weighs in at just 2,690 pounds due to its carbon fiber-reinforced polymer construction, has an aggressive profile with a large wing and side skirts, and features a 4-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine to offer up 500hp. In addition to all this, new AI technology has been utilised to improve traction control. Here, it's been finished with BMW's signature racing aesthetic.
