Sainsbury’s started stocking vinyl back in March 2016 and by June of the same year it claimed it was the UK's top retailer of records. In fact, now one in every 20 records sold in the UK is purchased from a Sainsbury’s store, but the supermarket chain is set to up its vinyl game even further with the launch of its own record label, simply called "Own Label".

In partnership with Universal and Warner, the label has got two releases out on vinyl this Friday. Both are compilations and both come curated by Saint Etienne’s Bob Stanley.

Hi Fidelity - A Taste Of Stereo Sound features 20 tracks including music from Yes, Roxy Music, Cat Stevens, Elton John and Brian Eno, while Coming Into Los Angeles - A Taste of West Coast also has 20 tracks from the likes of Love, Fleetwood Mac, America and The Byrds.

Speaking about the launch of the label, Sainsbury’s Head of Music and Books, Pete Selby, said:

"Our customers’ love of vinyl shows no sign of abating, so alongside the classics albums, we want to offer our shoppers something they won’t find anywhere else. Our exclusive Own Label records have been carefully tailored towards the inquisitive, cultured tastes of our customers so we’re confident that they’ll love the sound of our new releases and our ever increasing vinyl range."

Check out the album artwork and tracklist for both albums below. You can pick up a copy of either at over 160 Sainsbury’s superstores around the country from 3 November.
