Walt Disney buys 21st Century Fox's entertainment assets for $52.4 billion

Following rumours of a deal being negotiated about a month ago, Disney has just announced it is set to buy 21st Century Fox’s entertainment assets for a huge $52.4 billion (39bn).

The deal includes Fox’s 39% stake in Sky, the 20th Century Fox film studio, cable channels FX and National Geographic, Fox’s stake in video streaming service Hulu, and media company Star India.

Big name films and shows which will now be under the ownership of Disney include X-Men, Avatar, and The Simpsons, who actually predicted Disney’s Fox acquisition in an episode (see screenshot below).
