Watch a beautiful short film about blues musician R.L. Boyce

R.L. Boyce is a traditional blues and hill country blues artist from Como, Mississippi best known for performing on his front porch and at raucous house parties - but last year he brought his music to the world and released an incredible record by the name of Roll and Tumble via Waxploitation Records.

Full of improvised blues lyrics and wondrous guitar playing, the record got him a Grammy nomination and also saw him take his first ever trip to London to perform on Jools Holland. During that trip he took a day out to visit Kent and shoot this short film with director Fiona Jane Burgess.

Titled A Two Letter Word, the clip includes an interview with Boyce talking about his upbringing in the American South in the 1960s and features him practising ahead of his debut TV performance. It’s a beautifully put together piece and a rare insight into a truly fascinating musician.

R.L. Boyce is set to announce UK dates shortly, so keep an eye out for news over on his Facebook.
