Watch the trailer for haunted house thriller Marrowbone

The writer behind 2007's The Orphanage, Sergio G. Sánchez, has made his directorial debit with a thriller that follows a family as they find their feet in America after escaping from their abusive British father. While staying in an inherited cottage called Marrowbone, Rose, the mother, sadly passes away, leaving the four children (played by George McKay, Mia Goth, Charlie Heaton and Mattthew Stagg) to fend for themselves. In order to stay together, the children plan to hide their mother’s death until the 21st birthday of eldest son Jack, however, when a lawyer comes poking around, the truth about what is hiding in Marrowbone house comes to light.

The film debuted at Toronto International Film Festival and has been picking up some pretty mediocre reviews so far, with ScreenDaily calling it "powerfully frustrating" thanks to too many twists that "only beget more twists".

Regardless, if you're a thriller fan it may be worth checking out. It'll be hitting cinemas and VOD on 13 April. Watch the trailer above.
