Playboy has deleted its Facebook pages

The #deletefacebook movement isn't showing any signs of slowing down as Playboy has now deactivated its Facebook Pages, which had a combined following of 25 million fans.

Even though Playboy isn't exactly as influential as it used to be, it still has a large following on the social media platform. In fact, in 2014 Playboy said Facebook was its largest audience.

"The recent news about Facebook’s alleged mismanagement of users’ data has solidified our decision to suspend our activity on the platform at this time," said the company in a statement. "There are more than 25 million fans who engage with Playboy via our various Facebook pages, and we do not want to be complicit in exposing them to the reported practices."

Elon Musk also deleted the Tesla and SpaceX Facebook Pages the other day after replying to a tweet from WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton, calling on everyone to delete Facebook. It's worth noting however, that Playboy, SpaceX and Tesla all have Instagram accounts up and running, so they are still supporting Facebook, indirectly.
