Yesterday saw the opening of Mare Street Market – a curated space in Hackney for eating, drinking, and shopping from local resident Marc Francis-Baum, the man behind a selection of East London bars including Hoxton Bar & Kitchen.

Inside the newly renovated 10,000 square-foot space you'll find beautiful bouquets from Rebel Rebel, caffeine fixes courtesy of Flying Horse Coffee, and records from Stranger Than Paradise – the passion project from Noreen McShane, a former manager of Rough Trade East.

Gizzie Erskine is heading up the food offerings, including an "Open Kitchen", serving up brunch plates and rye pizzas, and "The Dining Room", a restaurant with a modern British menu designed by head chef Phil Smith, formerly of Bibendum.

"As a Hackney resident, I’ve invested many years in forging relationships with some of the best producers in Hackney, and its terrific to finally be able to host all of the talent under one roof," said partner and creative director, Gizzi Erskine. "Marc and I have the same creative vision and being invited into the project was a serendipitous meeting of minds. I’m proud as punch to be bringing the food to Mare Street Market!"

The Mare Street Market can be a short walk from Broadway Market, next-door to Netil House.
