Trailer: The Man Who Killed Don Quixote – Directed by Terry Gilliam

At long last, a trailer has been released for director Terry Gilliam's mysterious The Man Who Killed Don Quixote – a passion project that's been 20 years in the making.

It's hard to get a real feel for the film from this one-minute clip, especially as it's been made for a French audience, but we have to say it feels a little out of character for Gilliam. Filled with rather simplistic comedy scenes, it almost has an amateur feel to it but, that said, a lot can change between now and the final release date and it's the trailer might not be representing the film in its best light, so we'll have to wait and see.

It stars Jonathan Pryce as a crazed old man who, convinced he is Don Quixote, sets out on a bizarre journey with his trusty squire, Sancho Panza (who is actually Toby, an advertising executive played by Adam Driver). Jumping back and forth between the 21st and 17th century, Toby soon becomes consumed by the illusion and is unable to distinguish his dreams from reality.

The Man Who Killed Don Quixote is due to premiere this May at Cannes Film Festival.
