A 25-minute "Primer" for Westworld Season 2

  • Posted 1 month Ago

A little while back, the creators of HBO's series Westworld said that, in order to stop misinformation spreading about the upcoming season, they would release their own spoiler video detailing the entire plot. Today, they've made good on that promise, although not quite in the way they said...

At 25-minutes long, the video certainly seems legitimate but, after Jeffrey Wright's character Bernard narrates what appear to be very real plot points for a minute-and-a-half, the true nature of the clip is revealed – it's one massive Westworld version of a "Rickroll".

Actresses Angela Sarafyan (who plays Clementine) and Evan Rachel Wood (who plays Dolores) start up a piano rendition of Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" – a track often linked to by Redditors in a move called "Rickrolling". After the song, we're presented with the message: "Dear Reddit, from all of us here at Westworld, thank you for watching. We hope you enjoy Season 2".

So what fills the remaining 22-minutes of the video, you may ask. Well, black-and-white footage of a dog sitting at a piano of course, accompanied by a moody and dramatic score.

Those annoyed by the Rickroll won't have to wait much longer for plot details, as Westworld Season 2 is premiering on 22 April.
