When it was introduced in the mid-90s, Herman Miller's Aeron chair promptly took over offices worldwide and, in 2010, was named "America's best-selling chair". But, despite this swift, widespread adoption, the chair has actually been criticised by some experts for not offering the ideal sitting position for an eight-hour work day (although the chair's co-designer Don Chadwick said this was never his aim).

As such, Herman Miller has used the latest technology to produce The Cosm, a self-adapting chair that can adjust to the individual's posture, weight and pressure points without the need for manual manipulation.

"Sit in Cosm, and you just might forget you’re sitting in a chair at all," reads the website. "Its sophisticated ergonomic design instantly responds to your body, movement, and posture to provide natural balance and total support. No matter who sat in the chair before you, how long you’ll be in it, or what you’ll be doing, Cosm gives you a new experience of comfort—anywhere you work."

An exact release date and price is yet to be announced, but we do know it will be available in white, red, black, navy and light blue. If you're interested, you can sign up for updates on the Herman Miller website.
