Video: An in-depth look at Games of Thrones' visual effects

The final season of Game of Thrones may seem like a long way off, but to keep us satisfied ScreenPrism has put together a 13-minute documentary giving us a behind-the-scenes look at the visual effects that go into making the fantasy drama.

It's obviously not the only reason, but the quality of the VFX is certainly a major part of the show, drawing us into the world and keeping the illusion alive until the rolling credits. One way the team achieve this is by constantly drawing inspiration from real-world elements, for example tracking the flight of an eagle to create the movements of Daenerys Targaryen's dragons. When the dragons were still babies, the VFX artists even studied the movements of chickens to create an accurate representation.

The final season of Game of Thrones is due to premiere in 2019 and, with reports of a battle scene that took 55 nights to film, it certainly shouldn't disappoint.
