  • Designed by the Tokyo-based firm Apollo Architects & Associates, MUR is a private dwelling located in Yokohama, Japan. Build in the residential area of the city, the design is formed from a "box inside a box" concept, making room for a calm, spacious courtyard in the middle.

The focal point for the house is the kitchen/living/dining open plan area, which features a sliding glass wall enabling inhabitants and guests to look out onto the cantilever stair system which can take you up to the roof.

The only "hidden" part of the building is a single bedroom, which is tucked away between the two main spaces through the clever manipulation of the walls. Take a look below!

    • This is amazing. It looks like the living room and kitchen are the same room but the furniture disappeared, (what with that). Can someone please explain this house to me. My mind is blown away right now.

    • its the style of the space. if you want warm and cozy then go live in a log cabin. and floating stairs are awesome, not scary.
