  • Despite the success of Ghostbusters 1 & 2 propelling actor Bill Murray (who played Peter Venkman) to great heights, he is apparently extremely reluctant to star in Ghostbusters 3, which has caused writer Dan Aykroyd to consider re-casting the role. Rumours were going around for quite a while that Murray tore up the Ghostbusters 3 script as soon as he read it, but Aykroyd is strongly denying this, saying:

"Bill Murray is not capable of such behaviour. This is simply something that would not be in his nature. We have a deep, private personal relationship that transcends business. We communicate frequently and his position on the involvement in Ghostbusters 3 has been made clear and I respect that. But Bill has too much positive estimation of my writing skills to shred the work."

When asked why he didn't want to star in the new film, Murray apparently said "No one wants to pay money to see fat, old men chasing ghosts."

What do you think about Murray's refusal? Could you imagine anyone else taking his place?

    • Murray's the man! If he thinks it's not right then I'm sure it's not. I LOVE MURRAY!

    • Thanks for asking my opinion, but I don't know. I just don't know what to think about this one. Can I try to answer another question on a different story? Perhaps some rest will do me good.

    • Let Rick Moranis take his spot. He was a ghostbuster at the end of the 2nd movie, technically.
