  • Passionate love letters from The Rolling Stone's frontman Mick Jagger to a secret lover have sold at a Sotheby's auction for more than 180,000. The letters were to Marsha Hunt, an American singer and star of the London musical Hair who inspired the hit Brown Sugar, and were written during his time in Australia when filming Ned Kelly. Described by Sotheby's as "remarkable and articulate", the letters paint a picture of Jagger as a "poetic and self-aware" 25-year-old, capturing a "vivid moment in cultural history." The buyer was a private collector who bid via telephone up to double the estimated price.
