• Defrosting A Frozen Building

  • When bike manufacturer SRAM bought ten-storey freezer for Chicago's Fulton Market District, they came across one large problem - defrosting the whole thing. After decades of use, the building had become totally frosted over like a giant freezer meaning they had to bring in large propane heaters to accelerate the melting process. Luckily for us, photographer Gary R. Jensen managed to get in there before the process started to get some shots of the unique ice formations. Helmed by architecture firm Perkins + Will, the newly designed building will feature two interconnected workspace levels with a product development machines shop and an internal cycling test track.
