• Cat Figurine Becomes New Monopoly Piece
  • Posted 21 months ago by Jack Lowe · Art & Design · 7706 Views
  • After a public online poll, Monopoly has announced that it will be removing its classic iron playing piece and replacing it with a silver cat figurine. According to games manufacturer Hasbro, the wheelbarrow and the iron were neck and neck for elimination, while the cat won over the other options (a toy robot, guitar, helicopter, and diamond ring) with 31% of the vote.

"We know that cat lovers around the world will be happy to welcome the new cat token into the Monopoly game," said Eric Nyman, senior vice president and global brand leader for Hasbro Gaming. "While we're a bit sad to see the iron go, the cat token is a fantastic choice by the fans and we have no doubt it will become just as iconic as the original tokens."
