  • Amazed to discover there were no good photographs of the annual National Pyrotechnic Festival in Mexico, New York-based photographer Thomas Prior set off on a trip to document it at the next possible opportunity. The festival honors Saint Juan de la Dios - the patron saint of the city (and fireworks) - and takes place in the town of Tultepec, where over 80% of the country's fireworks are produced. At the end of the extravagant week long celebrations, a parade of about 250 "toritos" - bull-shaped frames with large fireworks on them - run down the narrow streets, lighting them up as they go.
