  • The first trailer for WikiLeaks movie The Fifth Estate has now been released, featuring British actor Benedict Cumberbatch as Assange himself. The eagerly anticipated film is directed by Bill Condon (Dreamgirls, The Twilight Saga - Breaking Dawn) and written by Josh Singer (a former writer on The West Wing), who partially based it on Domscheit-Berg's books Inside WikiLeaks: My Time with Julian Assange and The World's Most Dangerous Website. It also pulls from another book called WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange's War on Secrecy by British journalists David Leigh and Luke Harding. According to Assange, who read the script earlier in the year, the film is "lie upon lie. The movie is a massive propaganda attack on WikiLeaks and the character of my staff". Release in is due for 18 October in the US and 1 January, 2014, in the UK.
