Born in Seoul, Korea, artist Shan Hur currently lives and works in London creating installations which blend into their surroundings in a way which is just unbelievable enough to engage and capture the attention of passers-by. "One of the issues I have focussed on is how to reduce the burden of the volume of sculpture," says Hur. "I then connect this mass to its surroundings, but not just as part of the whole. I think sculpture should communicate with its circumstances." Since completing his MFA in 2010 at the Slade School of Fine Art in London, Hur has gone on to show his work in both solo and group exhibitions at over twelve galleries across the country, as well as becoming a finalist in the Art Caitlin prize and showing at the London Art Fair.
