The Carrer Avinů apartment in Barcelona has been named 2013's World Interior of the Year at the Inside Festival in Singapore. The renovation was undertaken by London-based practice David Kohn Architects, who covered the floor in triangular tiles that gradually change colour from green to red as you make your way across the space. The home belongs to two brothers who spend most of their time in Hong Kong. Speaking about the win, architect David Kohn said: "We are absolutely delighted to have won the award. The project demonstrates how an interior can be about the city in which it is situated. An homage to Barcelona."
- To look at, it's not much. It's the fact that it embodies the ambiance of Barcelona that probably won it.. When interior design blurs the line between inside and outside by using the influence of the urban or rural situation of the building, that's what makes it special
