  • To add a bit of excitement to the daily routine of commuters in the city of Bristol, England, artist Luke Jerram will be building a 300ft long water slides which links two neighbourhoods. "As artists, architects, planners, and just the public, maybe it's up to us to think of how we want to use the city, and what sort of future we want to see," Jerram said. "I suppose I think this slide is sort of an experiment, an arrow pointing in one particular direction." To fund the rather unusual project, Jerram is seeking $9,000 through crowdfunding. If all goes well, the project will be realised by 4 May, 2014.

    • For commuters? It's just over 90 meters! Judging by my 100m track time when we were at school probs will knock of a good 15 seconds of journey time.
