The Yellow Treehouse Restaurant in New Zealand

Auckland-based company Yellow Pages has collaborated with Pacific Environment Architects to create the Yellow Treehouse Restaurant. Suspended roughly 130-feet above the ground, the restaurant is accessed via a long wooden walkway and is attached to a large redwood tree. Inside, the 30-foot-wide space can seat a total of 30 people and includes a kitchen and toilet on the ground below. Clever "curved fin" structure made from laminated pine and locally sourced redwood, the architects have enabled the space to flood with natural light during the day and emit a warm, orange glow at night, resulting in a rather magical atmosphere.
