Kodak City - A Photography Series Documenting Kodak's Decline

  • Posted 49 months Ago

As the photography industry continues to rapidly evolve, the once-prosperous American company Kodak has struggled to keep up and even had to file for bankruptcy a little over two years ago. As a result, the factory where the empire originally began in Rochester, New York, is now largely left empty. Swiss photographer Catherine Leutenegger's series Kodak City documents this decline, reminding us of the area's past as an industrial hub.

"It's like pickling moments in formaldehyde," says Leutenegger. "It's a sensory object, a conveyor of messages and emotions in an environment that is dominated by the virtual." The series has been published Kehrer Verlag and is available to buy online now for 30 (approx. $50 USD).
