Video: Leica Recreates 35 Historic Photos for Their Centenary

In celebration of their 100 year centennial, and to mark the opening of their new gallery in Sao Paulo, Brazil - Leica have teamed up with Brazilan ad agency F/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi to recreate 35 famous photos in this short film. The German camera giant are hardly humble in their achievements, stating that they know not all of these historic shots were taken with a Lecia, but they were all taken “because of a Lecia”. They also go on to say “we didn’t invent photography, but we invented photography”….

As self-congratulatory as all that might sound, it is quite interesting to see recreations of shots like Annie Leibovitz’s portrait of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Bernie Boston’s “Flower Power” and Jeff Widener’s “Unknown Rebel of Tiananmen Square”. Watch the film above.
