If you live anywhere urban in the UK, you will have no doubt noticed your council's terrible attempts at covering up graffiti, painting over it with mismatching colours, ending with a truly ugly wall. After cycling past one such wall for years, anonymous graffiti artist MOBSTR decided to test the authorities, seeing which areas they thought needed to be painted over and which should be pressure washed.
"I noticed that graffiti painted within the red area was "buffed" with red paint. However, graffiti outside of the red area would be removed via pressure washing," he says. "This prompted the start of an experiment. Unlike other works, I was very uncertain as to what results it would yield. Below is what transpired over the course of a year."
The results, documented in the photo series below, are pretty hilarious.
