Audi has just debuted the Q8 – the new luxury flagship of its Q Range.
The striking SUV boasts a large, elegant interior complete with touch screens, a state-of-the-art navigation system, headup display and a full leather package as standard, combining “the elegance of a four door luxury coupé” with “the convenient versatility of a large SUV.”
“The Audi Q8 is a representative of the progressive design language that Audi
first brought onto the road with the new A8,” says Audi in a press release. “Strong contours and athletically tight surfaces convey a feeling of power, sophistication and the special dynamics of the permanent allwheel drive. The Q8 interprets this in its very own way, as
the fusion of an elegant fourdoor luxury coupé with a large SUV, and with echoes of an Audi icon – the original quattro.”
It’s not just pretty to look at either, with its six-cylinder 286PS engine delivering a 0-62mph time of just 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 144mph. Not figures to be sniffed at for a SUV of this size. HD Matrix LED lights, 21-inch alloy wheels and adaptive air suspension all come as standard, elevating the vehicle to levels well above the Q7.
It’s three metre wheelbase and 605 litres boot also means it can easily seat five plus luggage, making it perfect for long drives with the family. And, while the size of the car gives it a significant road presence, it’s actually 6.6cm shorter than its Q7 sister, resulting in an unexpected sleekness for such a big vehicle.
The Audi Q8 is scheduled for UK introduction in summer 2018. You can read more about it here.
