In celebration of its 75th anniversary, Swedish furniture giant IKEA is reintroducing some of its most popular pieces, dating right back to the 1950s.

Since it was founded in 1943, IKEA has gone on to become the world’s biggest furniture retailer and today boasts worldwide revenues in excess of $40 billion. To celebrate this accomplishment and to showcase its history, the design team has dug into the archives and put together the Gratulera series. It will be broken into three collections, each container classic IKEA products from a 20 year period and each released at a separate time.

The first collection will be available this August and includes items from the 1950s and 1960s. The second will be available in October with designs from the 1970s and 1980s. And the third will launch in December with pieces from the 1990s and 2000s.

“Each launch is different to the other, signifying its time period; from dark woods with a classic expression, to a very playful style with strong colours and then to a more natural look with Scandinavian woods and graphic colours,” said IKEA’s creative leader Karin Gustavsson.

Designs include IKEA’s first ever flat-pack table, the Lövet table (1956), the Klippan sofa, and its Ekenäset armchair.

All three collections will be available in limited numbers.
