With iconic adverts like Nike’s “The Next Level” on his CV, its no surprise that Beats by Dre has decided to work with British director Guy Ritchie on its ad spot for the World Cup.
Named “Made Defiant”, it takes the form of a visual and audio mixtape, “a mixtape of our defiance,” says narrator Paul Anderson. “Defiance is like, when the odds are stacked against you but you go anyway. So this is how we take it around the world, and how we bring it back.”
At 4-minutes long, the ad takes us around the world, showing us a different Beats-sponsored player from a different country (including England’s Harry Kane, France’s Benjamin Mendy, Germany’s Mesut Ozil, Brazils’ Neymar Jr., Belgium’s Eden Hazard, and Spain’s David De Gea) all while adding in cameos from stars like Serena Williams. Music comes from Anderson .Paak, Enya, Jonah Christian, King Mez, and Ring The Alarm.
“When your time comes, you have two choices. You can be the kid no one’s heard of. Or you can be the kid no one saw coming,” says Beats.
