A brilliant timelapse of NYC made using over a thousand Instagram photos

Art director Sam Morrison has created a unique and interesting take on the played out NYC timelapse by crowdsourcing all his material from Instagram.

Entitled “Typologies of New York City”, the 57-second hyperlapse makes use of 1,272 Instagram photos found using location tags and hashtags, all of which were then painstakingly stitched together to create this brilliant video.

“I sifted through probably ~100,000 photos on Instagram using location tags and hashtags, then sorted, and then hand-animated in After Effects to create a crowdsourced hyperlapse video of New York City,” he said when speaking to PetaPixel. “I think the whole project took roughly 200 hours to create!”
