Electric car enthusiasts Fully Charged have managed to bag a world exclusive look at the Porsche Taycan – the manufacturer’s first all-electric car that’s been teased for almost four years.
Presenter Jonny Smith headed out to an airfield in Canada to run the car through its paces, specifically focusing on its repeatable launch control, which allows the car to go from 0-62 mph in around 3.5 seconds, again, and again, and again. This repeatability is clearly a major selling point for the Porsche, as it gives it the edge on models from Tesla, which can only launch a few times without significantly lowering (and potentially damaging) battery life.
In the video, it’s also revealed that the car will be going on sale later this year, or at least some the thousands who have pre-ordered will be receiving their models. Price isn’t spoken about, but Smith estimates it will be around the £120,000 mark.
