According to a piece by Slash Film, Disney is working on a reboot of the 1989 cult classic Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.
The new film will reportedly be Shrunk, and will star Josh Gad (Frozen) in the lead role as Nick Szalinski, the son of the inventor Wayne from the original films. History will repeat itself in Shrunk, with Nick accidentally shrinking his kids and struggling to find a way to reverse it.
It’s no surprise that Disney has decided to reboot the franchise, especially when you learn that it held the record as the highest-grossing live-action Disney film for five years, bringing in a total of $222 million at the box office. As well as being a total cash-cow, it also received largely positive reviews from critics, making it an all-round winner for the studio.
Let’s see if they can recreate that winning formula…
