As you might already realise from the name, Quincy is a documentary about Quincy Jones. Created by Netflix, is features cameos from Barack Obama, Oprah and Kendrick Lamar and spans six decades of the legendary composer’s music career.
Born in 1933, the 85-year-old has been awarded a mind-boggling 27 Grammys (and 79 Grammy nominations), including a Grammy Legend Award in 1991. He’s also worked alongside some of the all-time greats, such as Aretha Franklin, Miles Davis, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra and Michael Jackson, to name but a few. As if that wasn’t enough, he even worked on the soundtrack to iconic films like The Italian Job and In Cold Blood.
The documentary has been directed by Alan Hicks and Quincy Jones’ daughter, Rashida Jones. Release is scheduled for 21 September.
