John Oliver slams Facebook with an honest remake of its new ad

Not only is the public opinion of Facebook arguably at its lowest ever point, the company’s stock just plunged 19 percent, wiping an incredible $120 billion from its value and marking the biggest one-day dip in a public company, ever.

So, in these bleak times of slow growth and falling user engagement, the social network has resorted to advertising to win us back, unveiling a spot which promises it’s getting rid of the click-bait and “fake news” and going back to the good old days, when it was just a place to connect with friends.

Unfortunately, the ad hasn’t managed to fool John Oliver, who’s made his own honest version that shows the company for the data harvesting system it really is. You can watch the brutal remake in the segment from Last Week Tonight above.
