
During the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, Marvel revealed that Valkyrie, played by Tessa Thompson, will be the studio’s first LGBTQ+ superhero. In the comic book source material, Valkyrie is bisexual.
Speaking to those in attendance, the actor said “First of all, as king, she needs to find her queen […] That will be her first order of business. She has some ideas.”
She went on to confirm that there will be other LGBTQ+ characters in the MCU, as well as a deaf hero portrayed by Walking Dead star Lauren Ridloff, who is deaf in real-life.
